Web Page Design Tips
1. The title should be concise, and represent the content of the page.
2. Start your Home Page with a brief description of your
organization and what your site has to offer.
3. If possible, test your page with more than one browser.
4. Instructions should be device independent:
"Select your payment option" rather than "Click on your payment option."
5 Don't use too many graphics, or large graphics. Visitors will not return
to your web page if it loads too slowly.
6. Don't use one small document with lots of links to other documents when
one large document might work better.
7. Make sure there is a way for visitors to make comments or pose questions.
8. Be sure there is date on your pages to indicate recent edits.
9. Unlike the rule for typing documents, do not use two spaces after periods
in sentences.
10. Use a light background, but not bright white. Cool colors are easier on the
eyes when reading.
11. Hyperlinks should be visually eye-catching to indicate their "hot" state.
13. Use the following techniques to emphasize text:
bold: use only for words with meaning (Ex. Shout!)
italics: use for words that are quiet, quotes, and titles
asterisks: use for words that are special (Ex. This is a *unique* book.)
caps: occasionally use in place of bold (Ex. SHOUT!)
